Filed by:  Ian

Big things are about to happen at Nimbin’s CTC, & Information Centre.

The CTC stands for Community Technology Centre & is set up to provide the general public who may not have a PC access to computers.

A special general meeting is being organised for you to decide ‘Do we want a CTC’.

Ross from the CTC spoke to Nimfm’s Martin Jansenn:   Click to DownloadHear Ross' Interview.

 'True Grit' Soccer
Filed by:  Ian

An exciting story from the Men’s over 35’s. Although they LOST 0-3, this game showed the true grit of Nimbin players.

Nimbin started with only 11 players & during the play a Nimbin Headers player, Brad Webb, received a bad cut over the eye. Fortunately Doctor Oscar is in the team, so he whisked him up to his surgery to apply 10 stitches to the eye.

The headers were reduced to only 9 men, so courageously the 2 returned to continue the game. But not before Dr Oscar had to show the umpire his hands to see if any blood was still on them & wasn’t violating the blood rule. In the wet weather, Brad, the injured player, continued on playing looking like a turbaned chief. (fade up violins)

In other soccer matches, The Men’s 5th div WON 3-0 against Dunnoon @ Dunnoon. The Nimbin Headers were able to spoil Dunnoon’s celebrations of the opening of their nice, new lights at the ground. Dunnoon now have the best lights in the district, thanks to a grant from Lismore Council. But despite Dunnoon’s lights it was Nimbin who ‘shone thru’, on the day. (fade up canned laugh)

The Women’s (3rd div) LOST 0-3 on Friday.

In the juniors, 15’s 12’s & 11’s are having a good year. Scores were: 15’s WON again 4-1, 14’s LOST, 13’s LOST 2-5, 12’s WON 3-1.

11’s also WON 5-1. This game had an especially exciting moment when Nimbin’s goalkeeper advanced from the net all the way down the field to the opposition’s goal. Unfortunately he lost the ball, & the opposition were able to score their only goal when he was stranded up the field.

In other results, 9’s LOST 1-5, 8’s LOST, 7’s ? & the 6’s DREW 2-2.

Nimbin Demons LOST to Casino @ home. The final margin was about 4 or 5 goals.

Although a loss, this was Nimbin’s best effort so far. Nimbin led at the end of the first quarter. However in later quarters Nimbin conceded too many free kicks to the opposition.

The game was played in the wet & wild conditions on the weekend. Despite the stormy weather a good crowd turned up to support the teams.

Next week Nimbin Demons play Byron @ Bangalow, 2pm Saturday.
