Thousands of Mardi Grass visitors have come and gone, but did these ones really have to trash our streets like this? Parts of Thorburn Street and the Central School Car Park looked more like a pack of rowdy boozers had been. Some of these shots were taken a few metres from specially-provided public bins. These scenes confirm reports that alcohol was the biggest problem this Mardi Grass.

Fortunately our street cleaners were on the job early Monday along with the school cleaners and at least one local resident out with his own rubbish bag. If only the visitors had brought one.
If your are the owner of this rubbish or one of these vehicles, please take it all with you next time. We welcome you next Mardi Grass but bring a bag for your rubbish, especially if camping in an area where public bins mightn't be nearby.
Police Arrest More than 100
Police say 50 people have been charged and 62 issued with cannabis cautions , out of 109 people arrested at the festival up to Sunday
night. Most were charged with possessiing or supplying a prohibited drug, with a robbery and assault also among the charges along with the usual traffic infringements.
Police say more than a 1.5 kilos of Cannabis was siezed, although that figure includes cookies and muffins where the entire wieght can count as being
Cannabis. They say 48 ecstasy tablets were siezed in a single haul. One man was taken to hospital and given rehydration treatment, apparently from the effects of crystal-meth-amphetamine or "ice".
For an angle from someone directly involved in the actions and activity, Ian Wickham spoke with Pot Art Tattoos guru, Space.
