 New Coach Found
Filed by:  Ian

The Nimbin Demons AFL Footy Club's search for a new coach has been successful.

We cross now to Tony from the Nimbin Demons for an official announcement.

(Tony) A fantastic appointment a fellow from Pottsville who's got a real history in football, Paul Petersen, a chap in his early 40's. We appointed him last Thursday night.

He'll be coaching the team this year along with the support of Assistant Coach Chris Hellyer, a local lad who's nearing 50, and Perry Maslen who's coached here before, played for Nimbin for a few years and is well known in the local hotel, will be our skills coach.

So that's an interesting development, from having no coach at all, Nimbin now has a coaching panel of 3, which we've never had before.

 Earth Hour (not) in Nimbin.
Filed by:  Ian

Down in Sydney on Saturday night in support of Earth hour, between 7.30 & 8.30 pm, over half of Sydneysiders turned off their lights saving over 24 tonnes of CO2 being released into the atmosphere.

But what was happening in support here in Nimbin while this was happening? Absolutely nothing! From being a world leader in environmental consciousness, Nimbin now has nobody to turn off the lights in support of the environment.

Actually that's not quite true. There was one aware one. His name is Peter Pedals. Fearing the blackout from environmental Nimbinites would ruin Darcy Goodwin's traditional free food Saturday night on Cullen st, Peter Pedals fixed up a special light to run off his homemade electric tricycle & pedaled up there. As it turned out none of the lights was turned off in Nimbin so it wasn't needed. So the end result of Earth Hour in Nimbin was one extra light was shining, but at least it was solar.

So congratulations to Peter Pedals of the Rainbow Power Co. for at least trying.
